With the best beans sourced, imported and surrendered to an addicted following, we’re so thrilled by the sheer variety of quality coffee spots in Stellenbosch such as Deluxe Coffee Works, Blue Crane & Butterfly, Schoon de Companje, Postcard Café and Meraki.

Deluxe Coffee Works Smidswinkel

Deluxe is all about the coffee. No frills or fuss or hype without delivery. The Dorp Street space that houses Deluxe Coffee Works is contemporary and relaxed. The vibe is all about good music, interesting people and great coffee. If you need a fix, Fast Eddie’s Espresso Blend will catapult you into caffeine heaven.

Blue Crane & Butterfly

A Stellenbosch landmark by all reckoning, this Dorp Street coffee shop is one that you can’t pass by as the heady aromas of roasted beans from El Salavador seductively beckon and fresh-out the oven bakes waft through the air in ready-to-scoff signals. We love this place for a pause and some wholesome sustenance.

Schoon de Companje

We enjoy the name of this artisanal deli and coffee roaster. Schoon means beautiful in Dutch, and it seems to declare both aspiration and inspiration for its offering of all things baked, roasted and marinated. Located on the corner of Church and Bird Streets, this is a refuge to a world of freshly produced artisanal breads, delicious food and over-the-bean good coffee.

Postcard Café

As the name suggests, Postcard Café is a scene of the poster-perfect photograph – a café alongside the edge of a dam, waterlilies and a view of Jonkershoek Valley. This is why we love our not-too-distant neighbors on the Stark-Condé wine farm, over and above their unpretentious menu and their delightful range of Stark-Condé wines.

Meraki

This gem of a café is another one of our best when it comes to good coffee and food. Seating in the courtyard or out front on the Stellenbosch street is the first order, followed by breakfast, brunch or buffet. It’s a fun place to hang out, as its student following attests to.
