Much more mulch
Why do we love mulch so much you may ask?
Being an organic farm for 20 years we have not used any pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers for a very long time. We rely solely on sound environmental practices to keep the pests and weeds at bay and to increase the fertility of the soil. Mulching is great for keeping the weeds away- by covering the soil thickly you remove the light so seeds or runners of weed plants are unable to establish themselves.
There are added benefits too of protecting the soil, conserving moisture and when the straw breaks down you have increased fertility. So it’s a win, win, win and that’s why we love mulch so much!

What a nice schmulchy little blog post!
Thank you very mulch John!
Those plants look very happy in their mulch. Lots of happy worms can do their work under the straw.
